Read this before using Buck. By creating an account or using the app in any way, you agree to everything below — without exception.

Buck is a one-week social experiment that runs in Calgary, Alberta from July 2 to July 12, 2026. You use the app entirely at your own discretion and your own risk. Buck, its operators, contributors, and affiliates are not responsible for anything that happens as a result of you using, or being unable to use, this app.

• You must be 18 years of age or older.
• You must be a real human, using your real identity.
• You must comply with all applicable laws of Canada, the Province of Alberta, and the City of Calgary.
• You must not be barred from using interactive online services under any applicable law or court order.

Buck is a tool to introduce people. Buck does not vet, screen, background-check, verify, or endorse any user. Profiles, photos, ages, intentions, and identities may be inaccurate or fraudulent. You are solely responsible for:

• Who you choose to interact with, message, or meet.
• Your own safety, online and in person.
• Anything you say, send, share, or do through the app.
• Independently verifying anyone you meet through Buck.

Meet in public. Tell a friend. Trust your gut.

The app is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including (without limitation) warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, security, uninterrupted operation, or freedom from harmful code. We do not warrant that the app will meet your needs, work on your device, be available at any particular time, produce any particular outcome, or result in any match, date, relationship, or interaction whatsoever.

BuckYYC is an independent social discovery and event companion application. BuckYYC is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or associated with the City of Calgary, the Calgary Stampede, or any of their affiliates, partners, or event organizers.

Any references to dates, locations, venues, attractions, or activities within Calgary are provided for informational purposes only. All trademarks, service marks, trade names, and logos remain the property of their respective owners.

BuckYYC operates independently and is intended to help users discover local events, venues, and social opportunities throughout Calgary.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Buck and its operators are not liable for any damages whatsoever arising from or relating to your use of the app — including but not limited to direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages; loss of profits, data, goodwill, or reputation; emotional distress; physical injury; property damage; harassment, abuse, or assault by other users; fraudulent profiles; failed dates; ghosting; heartbreak; rejection; embarrassment; or any other harm of any kind, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

If you don't agree, don't use the app.

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Buck, its operators, contributors, and affiliates from any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the app; (b) your interactions with other users; (c) your violation of these terms; or (d) your violation of any law or third-party right.

You will not, and will not attempt to:

• Harass, threaten, stalk, defraud, or impersonate anyone.
• Post nudity, sexually explicit content, hate speech, violence, or anything illegal.
• Solicit money, services, or commercial transactions.
• Use Buck for advertising, promotion, or recruitment.
• Scrape, copy, or harvest data about other users.
• Reverse-engineer, attack, overload, or disrupt the app or its infrastructure.
• Create a profile if you are under 18.

We may suspend or delete any account at any time, for any reason or no reason, without notice or liability.

You keep ownership of the photos, bio, and messages you submit. You grant Buck a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to host, display, and process that content solely for the purpose of operating the app. You confirm you have the right to upload everything you upload.

The app shuts down on July 12, 2026, and your account and all associated data may be deleted shortly thereafter. We may also terminate or suspend your access at any time, for any reason. The disclaimers, limitations, and indemnification above survive termination.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Calgary, Alberta for any dispute arising out of or related to the app or these terms.

buckyyc includes a Safety button with a "Call 911" link, a "Text my location to safety contact" link, and a non-emergency police link. These are convenience shortcuts only:

• "Call 911" opens your phone's dialer with 911 entered. You must tap Call yourself. buckyyc does not contact 911, police, paramedics, or any responder on your behalf.
• "Text my location" opens your phone's Messages app pre-filled with your GPS coordinates and a help message addressed to the safety contact you set during onboarding. You must tap Send yourself. buckyyc does not send the message for you and does not guarantee delivery.
• In an emergency, call 911 directly from your phone's dialer. Do not rely on this app.

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms.

buckyyc charges a one-time fee of CA$9.99 for full access to the app during the event window (July 2–12, 2026). Payment is processed by RevenueCat via Apple In-App Purchase (iOS) or Google Play Billing (Android). buckyyc never sees or stores your payment card details.

• All sales are final. No refunds, partial or full, will be issued by buckyyc once payment is processed.
• If you believe a charge was made in error, contact Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) directly through their in-store refund flows. We cannot override their decision.
• Access expires automatically on July 12, 2026 regardless of purchase date. There is no auto-renewal or subscription.
• If access is purchased after July 12, 2026, no refund is owed — you accept that the event has ended.

• Account info: email address and password (stored securely as a hash), or — if you sign in with Apple or Google — the email and identifier those providers share with us. With Apple, you may choose to hide your real email; in that case we receive only Apple's private relay address.
• Profile info: first name, age, gender, gender preferences, short bio, and up to three photos you upload.
• Photos: each photo passes through automated moderation before being stored. Rejected photos are not kept.
• Activity: swipes, matches, and the content of messages you send to matched users.
• Approximate location: we use your device's geolocation at sign-up and at access time to confirm you're in the Calgary region. We do not continuously track your location and do not store precise coordinates beyond that check.
• Purchase data: when you pay for access, our payment processor (RevenueCat) tells us which Apple or Google transaction unlocked your account, your platform (iOS or Android), and the status of the purchase (paid, refunded, expired). We never see or store your payment card, bank account, or billing address.
• Safety contact: if you choose to set one, a name and phone number stored on your account to support the in-app Safety button.
• Reports & moderation evidence: when a user reports another, the report content and surrounding context may be retained for review and abuse prevention.
• Technical data: standard server logs (IP, user agent, timestamps) for security and abuse prevention.

• To run the app and show you potential matches.
• To deliver messages between matched users.
• To enforce the Calgary-only and July 2–12 restrictions.
• To prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.

We do not sell your data. We do not run ads.

• Other Buck users can see your profile (name, age, gender, bio, photo) while the event is running.
• Matched users can read messages you send to them.
• Buck operators may access data to investigate abuse reports or comply with legal obligations.

Data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure operated by Supabase (database, authentication, storage, and serverless functions). Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. While we use reasonable safeguards, no system is perfectly secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You share information at your own risk.

The following companies process some of your data on our behalf to make the app work. They are bound by their own privacy policies, which we recommend you read.

• Supabase — database, authentication, file storage for your photos, and serverless functions (matchmaking, moderation, email notifications).
• RevenueCat — payment processing, subscription state, and webhook delivery when a purchase is completed or refunded.
• Apple — Sign in with Apple, App Store in-app purchase processing, and push notification delivery (when enabled).
• Google — Sign in with Google, Google Play Billing for in-app purchase processing, and Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notification delivery (when enabled).
• Lovable — transactional email delivery (welcome messages, new-match notifications, password resets) via the Lovable email API.

We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for cross-app tracking.

You can delete your account at any time from inside the app (Settings → Delete account). Deletion is processed within 30 days and removes your profile, photos, swipes, and messages from our active systems. Backups are rotated out within 90 days after that.

All buckyyc accounts and event data will be permanently deleted within 30 days of the event ending on July 12, 2026, unless we are legally required to retain specific information (for example, payment records for tax purposes — typically held by Apple/Google/RevenueCat, not us).

Report content tied to safety incidents may be retained longer than 30 days for abuse-prevention purposes.

Buck is strictly for users 18 and older. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we will delete it immediately.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Correct information that is inaccurate or out of date.
• Delete your account and associated data (account deletion is available directly in the app; for everything else, contact us).
• Withdraw consent to processing (note that doing so may make the app unusable).
• Lodge a complaint with a privacy regulator in your jurisdiction (in Canada, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner).
